The 3rd BCW Meeting Report
(Saturday 9th July 2011)

Dear brothers & sisters,

Thank you for your prayers, support and for accompanying us on this journey of faith. We are small but our God is great. Eighteen of us gathered in Parkland Church although a couple of people had informed us that they would not be able to come for various reasons. We introduced each other and shared our hearts and the word of God. You will find below a couple of things that we shared in the meeting. Next meeting is going to be on 17th September in Parkland Church in Swansea at 12 – 4pm.

* This is what God has revealed to me through the Book of Ruth and the history of Wales and Britian.

DUAL-IDENTITY

Wales (foreigner) but Cymru (friend or brethren)
Wales has got dual-identity. Originally this Celtic land was called ‘Cymru’ which means ‘land of the Cymry (friend of brethren)’ but when they were invaded, the invaders named them ‘Wales’ which means ‘foreigner’. This Celtic people have been called ‘foreigners (= Wales)’ for centuries in their own land; Cymru (= friend, brethren).

When we have dual-identities, it confuses, divides us and causes rejection; rejecting myself and others. But when we are found in Christ, instead our dual-identity deepens, broadens, strengthens us and makes us receptive. Because Jesus himself has got dual-identity and mysteriously he has combined them through the Cross. He is the Son of God and the Son of man, the Lamb of God and the Lion of Judah, and the beginning and the end, etc.. Jesus was the rejected stone but became the Cornerstone that receives all of us even his enemies.

Wales has a such rich Christian heritage, not only the revivals but also Celtic Christian history from the 5th century. Because of Wales’ dual-identity in Christ, she has been receptive. She not only received many revivals but also sent out many Welsh missionaries to many nations through the centuries.

Ruth: Foreigner but Friend
Ruth was a Moabitess widow who came back to the land of Judah with Naomi her mother-in-law. Her name means ‘friend’ but she became a ‘foreigner’ as she arrived in Judah. When Naomi’s family arrived in Moab, they were foreigners but Ruth received them as friends and in the end she got married to one of the foreigners.

Boaz was the son of Rahab who was a Canaanitess prostitute, although his father was of the tribe of Judah. He was of the tribe of Judah but he was a foreigner by blood; he had dual-identities. He must have had a difficult time growing up but he became receptive rather than rejecting. He must have identified with Ruth and received her because he had a foreigner’s identity too.

Korean: Foreigner but Friend
I am a Korean and have been living in Wales for twelve and half years as foreigner. But I have another identity, which is ‘friend’. In 1866, a Welsh man, Robert Jermain Thomas, went to Korea as missionary and was martyred in Pyung Yang, now the capital of North Korea. He was one of the seeds of Korean church. All Korean Christians know that we are spiritual descendants of the Welsh man; ie. We have got the Cymry(= friend)’s spiritual DNA. As I said that I am a foreigner but am a friend. Jesus calls us not servants but friends. Wherever we are in a foreign land, as long as we are in Christ, we are friends; dual-identity.

Naomi’s Level & Boaz’s Level
Naomi instructed Ruth what to do since she realised that God was leading Ruth to Boaz who was one of their redeemers; “Wash and perfume yourself, and put on your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor.” (Ruth 3:3) But Naomi wasn’t able to work out the legal details for redeeming but Boaz could and did. We need Naomi as well as Boaz; relational persons and legal expertise.

Arriving the Harvest Time
Naomi and Ruth were arriving in Bethlehem from Moab as the barley harvest was beginning. I sense that as we are arriving in this matter, the barley harvest has just begun. We are entering into the Great Harvest. Bethlehem (= house of bread) didn’t provide bread automatically as they arrived but Ruth had to go out to the field to glean. We need to go out to the field to glean.

Gleaning in the Field
Ruth asked Naomi to go out to the field to glean stalks because they had nothing to eat. It was not easy for Ruth as foreign widow to go out to the field alone. She was vulnerable but she went and gleaned. Of course she gleaned physical food also she gleaned hope. Naomi had said to Ruth she had no hope but bitterness, but when Ruth came back from the field, Naomi’s hope started rising. And Ruth gleaned her husband in the field. Finally she gleaned God’s eternal purpose because through her eventually king David and the Redeemer Jesus were born. I sense that we are gleaning to redeem the land, restore the vision and resume the work of God on the sites.

[Prayer & Announcement]
31st July is the last day of receiving the Comment Form about the redevelopment of BCW sites. Practically, Friday 29th July is the last day. Please remember in your prayers that God’s will and his purpose will be done on that sites.

We are not meeting in August but 17th September in Parkland Church in Swansea at 12 – 4pm. But if you individually want to spend some time with me in prayer and sharing, could you contact me please and we will arrange the time? I will be very busy during the Celebration time (www.celebrationforthenations.org) 22nd – 29th July in Wales and will be in London 30th-31st July. Then I will go to Israel with a Korean team 2nd – 11th August.

[No More Tourists Allowed BCW Ground]

After the meeting, we went to BCW ground but we were not allowed to walk on the ground. We have accepted it because it is private ground and the trustees have decided it. They said that tourists will not be allowed any more. Please, don’t misunderstand what they have decided and do not react wrongly. We need to respect their decision making and to follow God’s lead for us to redeem the land, restore the vision and resume the work of God for His eternal purpose.

[A Couple of People’s Sharing]

BCW Ground: 1) As praying, felt the Lord say very clearly into my spirit ‘I have given you the Bible College of Wales’. I knew it was the Lord speaking, but didn’t know what to think or say. Then He said ‘What will you do with it’? Thought for moment and said, I give it back to you Lord. A Very Strong sense of His Presence saying yes this is me.

2) Then had the impression of only allowing onto the land what the Lord says – not the ought to, or have to, or must do these things here. Only what the Lord says.

3) I was then taken to a personal devotional reading, which was about our body being the Temple of the Holy Spirit and how we are to live daily. I knew the Lord was saying how we are to live on the Land is as important as what takes place on the Land. Purity of relationship and lifestyle is very important.

4) Also heard the word ‘Europe’ spoken very clearly.

JESUS Tunic (John 19:23-24)
It seemed that the Lord was saying that the land of BCW was like the Tunic of Jesus. It was not to be divided up as the other parts, v23, but they would cast lots for it, it was up for grabs. The Tunic was the most valuable. Proverbs 16 v 33 says, ‘The lot is cast into the lap, But it’s every decision is from the Lord’. Seemed very clear the Lord is saying I DECIDE what will happen to MY TUNIC.
