Disabled to Enable
(The Forge Newsletter_February_2012)

Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. / And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time." (Luke 1:11-12, 20)

Although the dream of God is given to me, if my life is the same as before, probably the dream is not from God. Because when God's dream comes to me, it doesn't make me happier and more satisfied; rather it causes me trouble and disturbs my routine life, also it disables and destroys my own dream and plan. I have to decide to be disrupted and even disabled or to carry on my religious routine life to fulfil my own dream when God comes with His dreams and His plans.

1. When God's Dream comes, I must be disturbed or startled

Zechariah was serving in the temple with a certain religious order and time frame. When the angel turned up, he was startled (ταράσσω = troubled, disturbed) and his religious duty was disrupted by the angelic presence. He probably wanted to carry it on to finish his duty because people were waiting for him outside. In fact, people had been waiting for him a long time when Zechariah came out from the temple (Luke 1:21). So sometimes it is difficult for us to spend time with God to get His dreams because of pressure from man or from the religious system. Also God's presence or his interruption delays the fulfilling of my religious customs and activities.

2. God Disables me in order to Enable others

Zechariah couldn't speak after he encountered the angel of God. The angel said that he brought good news but it wasn't good news for him because he became dumb (1:19). Yet when his mouth was closed, his wife's womb was opened. Sometimes God DISABLES me in order to ENABLE something or somebody else.

3. Silence is the Womb of the Voice of God
Although Zechariah couldn't speak, he listened to God and obeyed when he returned home and his wife became pregnant. When it is difficult for us to believe God's words, it is better to be silent. John the Baptist was conceived when his father was silent; The VOICE of God was CONCEIVED in the SILENCE and for 9 months he grew in silence. Even as a young man he lived in the silence of the desert, where there was no-one to speak. God speaks and works quite often through silence. Without this kind of silence, we can only speak as the voice of man with noise to create confusion and to destroy His Kingdom.

Waiting in silence is like a DEATH or DYING experience. Nevertheless, the life of God is conceived and growing in the silence, when we have heard the word of God. This Forge vision wasn't my idea at all but it came from God. So I have been waiting and listening with a great expectation of His disturbance or interruption although it looks dark and silent. At the same time I and my wife Bridget are still waiting for our new baby's arrival.

p.s. When I first wrote this newsletter, we were still waiting for our baby's arrival. Now, he was born on 28th at 10:33am, 8lbs 3oz (3.71kg). In fact, God disrupted our plan to be at the Forge Gathering in order to bring new life: YOHAN LEE (= John) as the Voice of God to prepare for Jesus' return.

[|] Report from The FORGE Last Gathering : 14th January 2012

Thirteen of us gathered at Parkland Church. Three people drove all the way down from Gloucester to take part. They brought a lot of encouragement and presence of God. Gladys and Dick led the worship and prayer time. It was a wonderful and amazing time of his presence and prayers. People shared their own dreams and visions that God has given them and we found all of them were connected. Even God told me that I would give up the word that I had received in that morning and was going to share with them. There was such freedom of God.

[||] Report from Black Mountain

I went to the Black Mountain from 30th December till 2nd January. It was very wet and windy, solitary time with God. At the end of December in 2010, I went to the Black Mountain with a Korean brother. It was freezing cold and a bit snowy, also my walking boot was broken. Although I went alone this time, it wasn't as cold as the year before and I had a waterproof tent, a pair of waterproof boots and three sleeping bags. I had a great time with God and his nature although one of the tent poles was bent by the strong wind.

God spoke to me clearly through the Scriptures (2 Samuel 13:12-14 / Isaiah 62:4) that I must not be driven or be confined by the time frame or by the power of money although the time frame had been given previously by God. Also I thanked God for my family, friends, new life, The Forge vision, understanding Israel although I have a lot of questions about our journey in 2012.

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." (Revelation 7:9-10)

Don't you have a saying, 'It's still four months until harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. (John 4:35)

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” (John 4:23)

Our journey is NOT to raise MONEY but to raise the true WORSHIPPERS, INTERCESSORS, and WORKERS in order to release to the harvest fields as Rees Howells did.
