 Battle Call for War

1'This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: 2 In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. 3 Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. 5 Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.' (Isaiah 2:1-4)

1. Peace-Making: The Work of United Nations & the Nations
UN has been working hard to make peace in the Middle East since it was formed and they installed as their slogan this verse from the Bible and inscribed it on the wall of the UN building in New York: They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. (Isaiah 2:4b)

It shows that their work is not really from God but from man. I do appreciate their humanitarian works all over the world. The works that they have been doing cannot be done by an individual or a group of people. But we need to understand the foundation of this work is not based on faith in God but on trust in human alliance. We can beat our swords into ploughshares and our spears into pruning hooks with our own strength. But with the other hand, we can make other weapons secretly.

This word, “They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.” is wonderful, powerful and beautiful. I want to see the fulfillment of it. But we need to understand that we need God's intervention who is faithful and keeps his word and his promises. We human beings make promises and break them easily when our emotions, situation, and conditions change.

When we look back through history, it is obvious: these are the examples...

Camp David Accord: Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty
On 17th September 1978, Jimmy Carter US president worked to bring the Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat and the Israeli Prime-Minister, Menachem Begin into the Camp David Accord which led directly to the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty in March 1979. The whole world expected the beginning of real peace in the Middle East.

Oslo Accord: Palestinian-Israeli Conflict

This was an attempt to resolve the on going Palestinian-Israeli conflict and create a framework for future negotiations and relations between the Israeli government and the Palestinians. Yitzhak Rabin, Bill Clinton, and Yasser Arafat signed the Oslo Accord at Oslo in Norway on 13 September 1993.

The Roadmap for Peace: Resolving the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
This is a plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict proposed by the US, the EU, the UN and Russia. It was first outlined by U.S. President George W. Bush in a speech on June 24, 2002, in which he called for an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in peace: "The Roadmap represents a starting point toward achieving the vision of two states, a secure State of Israel and a viable, peaceful, democratic Palestine. It is the framework for progress towards lasting peace and security in the Middle East..."

Have any of these agreements brought any advance of peace in the Middle East?
More terrorist groups have been formed, land has been divided, lives have been lost, and hatred has only increased....

In Egypt, Severe Injury to the Fabric of Peace with Israel

Early on Friday 9th September 2011, hundreds of protesters tore down the Israeli embassy's security wall with sledgehammers and their bare hands. After nightfall, about 30 protesters stormed into the embassy and just before midnight, reached a room on one of the embassy's lower floors at the top of the building and began dumping Hebrew-language documents from the windows. The next day Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the overnight attack on his country's embassy in the Egyptian capital, saying the incident inflicted a “severe injury to the fabric of peace with Israel.”

Turkey Expels Israeli Ambassador
Although Israel and Turkey had been allied, Turkey expelled Israel's ambassador on Friday 2 September 2011 and suspended all military agreements over its refusal to apologise for last year's raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stepped up his belligerent rhetoric against Israel, saying Turkish warships will escort future aid boats leaving its territory for Gaza to prevent a repeat of last year's deadly Israeli raid on an aid flotilla. Turkey had already announced it would increase navy patrols in the eastern Mediterranean and deported Israeli Ambassador in response to Israel's refusal to apologize for the raid.

Broken Peace-Making and Getting Worse
We human beings have been trying to make world peace but it is getting worse. It is understandable because the ultimate peace will come only through Jesus who is the Prince of Peace. Eventually, nations will be judged by God for what they have done to Israel as it is prophesied in the Bible. (Joel 3:2, Zechariah 14:1-4)

2. This is War

War changes everything in our lives. We need to understand that we are at war and we are called to fight. Our weapons are not physical weapons but the love of God. This weapon is unfailing and invincible. We must not be deceived by the UN's slogan; we can beat swords into ploughshares and spears into pruning hooks to make peace but without the Prince of peace, there is no peace. We have to prepare for war; we have to beat ploughshares into swords and pruning hooks into spears. (Joel 3:9-11) If we are played by our enemy's deceptive peace strategy, we will be disarmed like in king Saul's time. There was no blacksmith in Israel, so on the day of the battle not a soldier with Saul and Jonathan had a sword or spear in his hand; only Saul and his son Jonathan had them. (1 Samuel 13:19-22)

Battle Call for War (bcw)
Therefore we have to build The Forge to make not only swords but also blacksmiths who know how to deal with iron, fire, water, air and ash in order to forge weapons. We have to build up warriors of God until the Temple of God is built on Zion and the law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:2-3)

Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) Therefore our weapons cannot be physical swords and spears but spiritual things; prayer, fasting, intercession and worship, and demonstration of the love of God, etc.. We have to be alert to this war. Moslems are not our enemy but the spirit of Islam and the spirit of anti-Christ.

Wars will be continued between nation and nation, tribe and tribe until Jesus returns. When he returns, he will finish every war because he is the Prince of Peace. We need to be aware of the deceptive peace movements. Without the Prince of Peace, there is no real peace but only deception!

3. The Forge Vision

God has commissioned us to redeem the land Rees Howell once purchased and made the site of the Bible College of Wales, a place of intercession and training for the mission field, which is now vacant and for sale. The vision we, and many others, have is to open a centre there which functions both as a (24/7) prayer house with intercession for Israel and the nations; and also a training centre to prepare workers both practically and spiritually for the mission field in these last days.

The picture God has given us is of a spiritual forge, where apprentices learn how to handle fire, water and metals and wrestle them into useful weapons, and where the apprentices are themselves forged through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit's fire to become useful tools in His hands.

You can read more about this in my original document: “Redeeming of the inheritance of Rees Howells”, available on request if you do not already have it.

Shalom!
