Sound to Silence

(The Forge Newsletter_January_2014)

Then he stood and cried out to the armies of Israel, and said to them, "Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me. If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants.".... And the Philistine said, "I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together." When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.(1 Samuel 17:8-11)

Silence is stronger than Sound

We are familiar with hearing and speaking sound. So it is difficult for us to live in and to listen to silence, and we are afraid of when the silence approaches us. Therefore we create sound in the silence, so that we may feel safe in our mind. We are created to take rest in the darkness and to find a sound life in the silence. However, our enemy manipulates us with fear to try to find a sound life in the sound and to take rest in the light. Without darkness, the light cannot not be shown and life cannot be germinated beautifully. Without silence, sound cannot not be effective powerfully. Sound can invade silence but silence will eventually swallow up sound, if we keep silent. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7)

Jesus showed the Word, instead of saying
Jesus is the Word. However, he was silent for 30 years but lived out the Word. As he was teaching for the last 3 years of his life, he still lived out the Word daily. If we show the Word through our daily life, we don't need to say a lot. If there are many words, it may mean there is less life. Those who are familiar with sound, they need louder sound in order to be more effective. So they have to make a louder voice, which is becoming violent and disastrous, until they are destroyed.

david2The sound respond to the sound and the Silent respond to the silence

David trained himself in the silent life in the wilderness while he was tending his father's sheep. So he didn't respond to the sound of Goliath, instead he was able to ignore the sound of man but responded to the silence of God. However, King Saul and his soldiers who had no silent training, responded to the sound of Goliath very well, so they trembled and fled with fear.

Saul chose excellent men, but David was chosen by the hopeless
King Saul chose the strong and valiant men but David was chosen by the hopeless and the helpless. Although Saul's men were excellent, they all responded to the sound of Goliath and were frightened and fled because they had responded to the sweet sound of King Saul's promises. However, those who were in distress, in debt, and discontented chose David who was rejected, and many of them became fearless warriors who didn't say a lot but showed their courage that broke through the enemy's camp in order to bring water.

The private battle before the public battle
David had many private battles with animals and intimate walks with God in the wilderness before the public battle and public walk in front of people. So he wasn't shaken at all in the public battle, instead he despised Goliath. However, King Saul had not had this kind of private walk nor battle experience, so he couldn't call on God and was frightened in the public battle. Public battles take place in the loud shout and brilliant light of man, but private battles take place in the silence and darkness of God; when nobody is there.

A Private lesson is much more expensive than a Public lesson
A private lesson is very specific but a public lesson isn't. A public lesson is much cheaper than a private one, so many people go to church meetings or conferences rather than privately sitting at His feet. Jesus has paid the most expensive private lesson fee for us and opened the Holy of the Holy place widely, but we don't spend time with him everyday privately. If we don't pay the lesson fee and someone pays for us instead, often we are not enthusiastic to learn. We need to appreciate how much he has paid and spend time in the private lessons with him in the silence and darkness before moving into the public places. Otherwise we probably will face a terrible end, like King Saul who was chosen but turned down by God after all.

activity[ The Forge Youth School of Faith ]
7 Korean young people and a teacher have been with us nearly 6 weeks in Wales. God has been challenging and encouraging in various ways; meditating and sharing the word of God, eating and meeting, resting and trusting, receiving and releasing, praying and fasting, worshipping and interceding, laughing and weeping, etc.. They have been growing not only physically but also spiritually. Sometimes it is tearful and sometimes joyful but everyday is wonderful. God is forging not only them but also us. We are praying that Jewish youth and other youth may come in to this Forge journey for the Kingdom's purpose. They are leaving Wales on 7th February for London, Israel and Korea, but a couple of people will stay with us a bit more. Thank you so much for your prayers and support in many ways; cooking, sharing, driving, playing and praying, etc..

camping[ Black Mountain Camping ]

Every year I go to camping in the Black Mountain with my tent to look-back and look-forward for the end of the year and the beginning of the new year for a few days. This time everybody wanted to come with me although I warned them it would be cold and very wet & windy. 15 of us camped for 3 days in the mountains. Even though it was very wet and very windy; two tents were flattened and one tent was blown away; we really enjoyed it. We had an overcoming experience through the heavy rain, cold weather, strong wind, discomfort, and our own selfishness. On the second day, God spoke to me a very interesting word regarding our journey of faith through the life of Abraham and Ishmael. I will probably share when the time comes. We made a short video clip. Click here, if you want to watch it.

wedding[An amazing wedding in our big house]

I have a couple of local friends whom I met in the market place. One of them wanted me to marry him and his fiancée. They both are from Romania and are now Christians. We offered our house for their wedding ceremony on 27th January at 5pm. Everybody participated and we transformed our house into a beautiful wedding hall and made lovely food as well. One of our sisters prepared this wedding with all her heart as if it was her own wedding and the Heavenly Wedding. It was joyful and tearful. As the best-man was speaking, he wept for the overwhelming love and grace of God.

q family[ Our Immediate Family News ]

Yohan is going to a nursery twice a week and turned 2 years old on 28th January, which was our 8th wedding anniversary too. He continues to be full of energy and loves all the attention from our Korean residents. He sings along loudly to all the songs. Noah is going to be 7 years old on 17th February. He is progressing well at school and in piano lessons, he enjoyed playing carols for us at Christmas. He has restarted swimming too, which he loves.  Bridget is doing well; organising our rota, meal menu, looking after kids, etc.

[ Unfinished Race with Rees Howells ]
Rees Howells purchased a fourth property, which is called Penllergaer, for Jewish children. He planned to bring at least 1000 Jewish children from Europe to the UK but he managed to bring only 12 children because Second World War began. On Friday 21st September, a Korean lady and Mathew Toller, a Messianic Jewish Rabbi wanted to visit the BCW sites. Three of us went and walked on Glenderwen, Derwen Fawr, Sketty Isaf and Penllergaer. As we got to Penllergaer waterfall, Mathew asked me about “The Forge” vision, which is raising up spiritual blacksmiths through setting up a centre for worship, intercession, mission and to raise up the next generation and to work for Jewish people at BCW sites.

At that point Mathew told me that Jewish people need to come to 'The Forge' to be equipped as missionaries and should go out to the nations of the world again. I really felt and prayed that is what Rees Howells left and we need to pick up. The Jews who will come might not be from Israel but from the USA and Europe, etc. It is very interesting because we didn't plan to go there at all on that day and the Jewish connection reopened up in our prayers in that place where Rees Howells prayed and planned.

When I was in Israel in October 2012, God spoke to me again about Jewish missionary training in Wales. On 7th October, when I woke up at about 6 am, I felt God wanted me to go up to the Temple Mount. When I was in a queue and also on the Temple Mount, God spoke to me again about the Jewish missionary training. I came down to the Western Wall. As I touched the wall, he spoke to me again. So I told God, “I don't know what to do and how to do it although you are saying to me.” Then he told me, “I have called you because you don't know and you cannot do it with your own ability.” I wept!

altar[ Place All on the Altar! ]

On Sunday 31st March 2013, I went to Penllergaer to walk with God. While I was walking, I heard, “Go back to the beginning!” This voice was lingering nearly all day. A few days previously, I had got a phone call from a friend of mine in Swansea. He was organising an Easter Egg Hunt for children on Monday 1st April and he wanted me to bring over my son Noah and family to Swansea on BCW site. I reluctantly went and found that Derwen Fawr house was opened.

Later on I called my younger son Yohan to come to the Blue Room with me because his conception and birth are deeply related to our journey of faith. I took a couple of photos of him in the room and I saw a card on the top of fire place. As soon as I looked at it, God spoke to me loudly and firmly. “Place All on the Altar!” On that card there were a few Bible scriptures and this hand writing. Only this sentence jumped out to me and convicted me. Later on I found that a lady sent this card last November from Penllergaer area. Isn't it interesting? One day I heard “Go back to the Beginning!” and the next day “Place All on the Altar!”

In January 2009, our family started going to the BCW sites every Sunday according to God's conviction, that he wanted us to redeem and restore the SPIRITUAL INHERITANCE of Rees Howells. Then the BCW sites were closed down and the college moved to England in July 2009. From that point I felt that God wanted us to redeem and restore the PHYSICAL PROPERTIES too, as part of the inheritance. Thankfully one of these has now been purchased and is being restored by Cornerstone Community Church, Singapore. So “Go back to the beginning” might mean that this journey is to redeem and restore the spiritual inheritance of Rees Howells only. Although I still don't know a lot of things, what I know is that I have to place all on the altar and I have placed BCW sites on the altar. Of course it was so hard for me but obedience is better than sacrifice.

It looks like my 4 years and 4 months intercessory journey with BCW sites has come to an end, although we are still pursuing Rees Howells spiritual inheritance and the picking up the baton of equipping Jews and Gentiles for the last harvest fields. But we are pursuing in redeeming his spiritual inheritance through the Forge vision.
