[ Introduction ]

I have always written songs when inspiration comes. In May 2015 I visited Jerusalem. I was sitting by myself on a house rooftop in the Old Jewish Quarter, singing gently and playing the guitar and a young American tourist and a local Jewish guy on his bicycle both passed by and asked for a copy of my music files. Then one of the Jewish neighbours also really wanted a copy. Through this, I really felt God saying he wanted me to make a CD.

Later that summer a friend of mine, Daniel Hong, hired a music studio for five hours for me and we started recording. In 2016, he hired the studio for five days and we managed to record three songs. Daniel Hong not only taught me music techniques as a producer, but also he disciplined my heart attitude as a mentor. I really appreciate him. After that, Taiwan Kim, as a friend and a mentor has been my producer and worked wholeheartedly all the way through. Gibbeum Cha and Hyewon Kim came on board; arranging several songs and playing piano.

I had some doubts before I started this journey but God told me that he wants me to lift the bronze serpent in the sky as Moses did. Moses was a shepherd and never forged as a blacksmith, so he made the serpent roughly because he had no forging experience and God had told him to do it. In the same way I am lifting up this music CD in the sky like Moses did.

As my wife pointed out, my English pronunciation is not perfect, but the image of Moses’ rough serpent in the sky comforted me and the broken body of the Messiah encouraged me greatly. I pray that God would heal, restore and challenge people through this rough music CD.

“So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.” (Numbers 21:9)

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.” (John 3:14-15)
