Desert to Destiny
(The FORGE Newsletter_October_2011)

The Israelites spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we (our soul) detest this miserable (insubstantial) food!" (Numbers 21:5 / NIV) ..... “And why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.” (Numbers 20:5 / NKJV)

Forgetting the Purpose and losing the Destiny
If we forget the purpose of our journey, we will lose our destiny too. The Israelites lost the purpose of this journey in the desert. When God sent Moses to Pharaoh, he told him, “Let my people go so that they may worship me in the desert.” (Exodus 5:1, 7:16, 8:1,20, 9:1,13, 10:3) It was the purpose of God for the Israelites to worship him in the desert. When they lost this worshipful heart, they always focused on nitty and gritty flesh things. Their purpose seemed to be eating and drinking in the desert. However, it is even possible to fast when we understand God's purpose and we are pursuing it; like Moses, Daniel, Esther, Mordecai and even Jesus himself.

The Desert was not their Destiny
The purpose of this journey was not to end up in the desert but to find a way through the desert to get to their destiny. God had allotted the promised land as their inheritance. They were supposed to get there and to settle down after passing through the desert and worshipping. Now they lost the purpose in the desert as well as their destiny, and in the end all died in the desert except the new generation.

Where there is no earthly provision, heavenly provision is ready
They were right. There was no natural bread and natural water. Most food comes out of the earth and drinking water as well. But when earthly food and water are dried up, it is the time for receiving the heavenly food and the living water from the Rock who is Jesus. (1Corinthians 10:4)

The secret of the journey in wilderness
There was no place of seed, or of figs, or etc in the desert where God had brought them up out of Egypt. They reckoned it was an evil place. (Numbers 20:5 / NKJV) If they had had some place of seed to plant, they would have settled down there. It happened to two and half tribes. When they reached the eastern side of the River Jordan, they wanted to settled down there because the land was suitable for their animals. Their decision making was not on God's promise but on their animals' needs. (Numbers 32:1-5)

The condition of the wilderness, no place of seed, helps us not to stop there but to keep moving according to God's lead. This is the beauty and the secret of the wilderness: that there is nothing but God who is Provider of our provision according to His vision. It is necessary for us to journey through the desert with a worshipful heart in order to come into our destiny.

1. I was very Discouraged, then really Encouraged
On 23 September, I went to the Black Mountain to spend time with God for three days. It was very wet and the wind was very strong but my tent was okay. I took a couple of books with me; 'Intercession of Rees Howells' (Doris Rusco) and 'God Challenges the Dictators' (Rees Howells). While I was reading the story about purchasing Derwen Fawr House, I was really, really discouraged by the huge amount of faith journey necessary. But the next day, God spoke to me, “Do you now know that you cannot do it with your own strength and strategy?” Then I was encouraged because I realised that I cannot do it and I don't need to tear my hair out. Only I need to listen to him and obey whatever he tells me each step I take.

2. Co-incidence or God-incidence?
On the way back home from The Forge meeting on 17th September, we saw a huge double rainbow by the road. I never seen such a huge and bright double rainbow in my life. I really felt God surely heard our prayers on that day. Then Dick F. who came to the meeting, told me that on that morning he saw a huge rainbow too over a Welsh chapel where he and his wife pray everyday. Is it just co-incidence or God-incidence? We need to keep praying for Israel and the Middle East conflict.

3. His timing for provision is amazing
When I went to Israel last January, God impressed me to bring our family to Israel during the Feast of Tabernacles in October. It was hard for us to decide to come because it cost a lot and we could not afford it financially. But we had been offered our accommodation in Jerusalem last August that was confirmation from the Lord. Although we right now still have not enough money, God encouraged us just before we left Wales this time. Kathy, one of my colleagues, phoned me and rushed to Llanelli train station. She brought an envelope that arrived in our Centre after we left for Llanelli train station. As soon as I got it, God reminded me of the incident when Rees Howells was leaving from Llanelli for London by train to go to Africa as a missionary. The Holy Spirit told him to join a queue to buy their train ticket although he didn't have money. When Rees Howells reached the window, someone who knew him and was waiting for Rees, went back to open his shop and gave some money. Isn't it interesting?

4. The East Wind
A group of people is seriously interested in purchasing one of BCW sites. A few weeks ago, I met them in Wales and we both have been praying since. I am sorry that I cannot give you any more detail about it but please pray for this so that God's will may be fulfilled through us.

5. Opening bank account and forming body
A few people would like to send some money but we haven't got a bank account yet. I, Steve M. and Rowland R. have been discussing and visiting banks. We want to set up 'The Forge' account on the right and pure foundation. Also we are praying and researching how to form an official, legal body.

6. Next meeting for 'The FORGE'

Date: Saturday 29th October, 12pm-4pm
Venue: Parklands Church, Maes Y Gollen, Sketty, Swansea, SA2 8HQ

7. Our family are in Jerusalem

Right now our family is in Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles. God has been speaking and revealing a few new things and meeting new people. It is very interesting and eye opening time as well.
